A Phase II Environmental Site Assessment at an adjacent property indicated the presence of off-site perchloroethylene (PCE; a dry cleaning fluid) within groundwater. HSA Golden was tasked with assessment and remediation of PCE and its breakdown products trichloroethylene (TCE) and 1,2-dichloroethylene (DCE) in soil and groundwater. |
| Scope: |
- Perform Site Assessment (Rule 62-780.600, F.A.C.) to determine the extents of impact.
- Develop and implement Remedial Action Plan (Rule 62-780.700, F.A.C.), which included both multiphase extraction (MPE) and bioremediation via injection of Pseudomonas bacteria.
- Over 100 pounds of contaminant mass removed from subsurface.
- Reduction of on-site contaminant concentrations by an average of 94%.
- Reduction of off-site contaminant concentrations to meet drinking water standards.
- Negotiated semiannual versus quarterly Natural Attenuation Monitoring frequency, cutting long-term monitoring costs in half.
