Both volatile organic halogens (VOHs) and aromatics (VOAs) were detected, including benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, xylenes, ethyl acetate, and tetrachloroethylene. Client was required under FDEP Consent Order to perform Site Assessment and remediation activities under 62-780, F.A.C., protocols. |

Ellman Battery Company operated a battery recycling facility at the project site from the early 1960's to the early 1990's. Investigations performed jointly by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2007 and 2008 indicated that elevated concentrations of lead (and to a lesser extent antimony, arsenic, barium, and copper) were present in soil and groundwater. Client was required to assess the extents of soil contamination to confirm regulatory agency investigative results. |
